I guess that thought came from all I've ready about using concrete piers instead of a tripod.

I'm still a few days or weeks off from being ready to attempt imaging again so I'll have to play around with the suggestion before I get it all polar aligned and whatnot.

I can tell you from experience that the anti-vibration pads actually show the most improvement
on hard surfaces, such as concrete.
Vibrations travel down the tripod legs and are reflected back up by the hard surface.
The pads absorb the waves preventing ( or at least attenuating ) the reflection.

Sounds like a great idea now that I picture the vibrations, although I stay away from the scope when imaging.
I need to move the tripod about a 10-12"; I'll give the pads a whirl then.
