Hi Robert,
Thanks for the reply. Hmm...this is getting more complicated by the minute.
Will have to investigate that idea.

Hi Robert, Vinnie,
As far as I know the company that make the GStar camera
have stopped it's production, likely due to the growing CMOS
manufacturing out of China at much cheaper production cost,
according to Steve at my Astro Shop.
This info was presented to me around March of 2015.
It's a real shame because I'm sure that this camera could have
gone on to bigger and better things.
Cheers
George

Hi,
Vinnie, I have as mentioned earlier, been in contact with Steve via email. The driver or the capture device compatibility were really the only things he could suggest. I have tried both as well as re-loading the program and drivers without success beyond as I reported earlier.
Thanks also to the rest of your for your contributions.
Robert

Default GStarEX2 and Windows 8.1 or 10

Hi Robert,
Just a thought, but have you tried shutting down your virus detector, screen saver etc. or any
other application that you have on your computer which runs in the background, or starts up
at a particular time, before starting up the camera.
When I first used the GStar camera I was having intermittent issues with the camera not being recognised, programme freezing etc. on my XP machine, but after stripping the machine down to almost a plain XP operating system all these problems disappeared.
Now with my XP machine on its way out I need to get the camera running using Windows 8.1. There has to be a way.
Cheers and good luck
George

Good news ..... in time for Xmas.
I managed to dig out my original driver disk for my ezcap device. (Took 3 days to find ) Installed it onto my new Win10 laptop. Voila! Encroyable. Il marche bien. (in other words.. "whoopeeeeee, it works!) Now I can pension off my broken WinXP lappy.
Merry Xmas
Robert
